Problems I'm built for

01

Messy Books, Big Organizations

Most accounting problems aren't mysterious — they're just neglected. I specialize in walking into complex organizations with years of accumulated chaos and building a path out. The bigger and messier, the better.

02

Sage Intacct

Certified implementer and accounting specialist since 2016. If you're migrating to Intacct, stuck mid-implementation, or just not getting what you paid for out of the platform — I've seen it before.

Certified since 2016
03

Highly Regulated Industries

Tribal casino gaming. State-legal cannabis. Governmental entities and nonprofits. The industries where the rules are complicated, the stakes are high, and most firms don't actually know what they're doing.

04

Growing Fast, Staying Lean

You're scaling — multiple entities, multiple states, maybe multiple business lines — but you're not ready for a full finance team. You need someone who can operate at CFO altitude without the overhead. That's a problem I actually enjoy.

05

Stress-Test the Deal

Looking at a business to buy, a market to enter, or an opportunity that seems too good? Bring me in to shred the details before you commit. I'm at my best as the skeptic in the room.

Background

More than a CPA

I started my first business at 16 — a DJ gig that taught me more about cash flow than any accounting class. Since then I've built and sold, succeeded and failed, and landed somewhere between obsessive operator and systems-first thinker.

I built NKW CPA, LLC from scratch — and spent years doing the work most accountants avoid. Highly regulated industries like tribal casino gaming and state-legal cannabis operations. Multi-dimensional governments, nonprofits, and small conglomerates. The kind of complexity that keeps you sharp.

When I'm not at a desk, I'm with my family, probably at a museum or an outdoor event somewhere in Montana.

What building DaHonu taught me about unit economics

It's one thing to advise clients on margins. It's another to watch your own COGS evolve in real time.

I've started (and abandoned) more blogs than I'd like to admit. This time I'm keeping it simple: when something's worth saying, I'll say it here. No schedule, no newsletter, just honest writing about business and money.
